A Nurse’s Guide to Careers in Care at Indeed

How Indeed is supporting nurses with much more than job searches.

Nurses Month is our time to celebrate the dedication, grit, and compassion nurses bring to healthcare and the countless lives we touch every day. But as we celebrate, we can’t ignore the growing shortage of healthcare workers stretching the system to its limit.

Especially nursing, it’s facing a significant shortage, with over 200,000 registered nurses and 300,000 licensed practical nurses jobs expected to remain unfilled by 2037. Burnout, stress, lack of mental health support for healthcare workers, and a wave of retiring seasoned nurses all contribute to this shortage.

To help address these challenges, Indeed launched Careers in Care—an initiative that goes beyond traditional job listings by offering personalized support and resources tailored to the unique needs of healthcare workers. Here are five ways this platform is stepping up to support nurses like you.

1. Find your next nursing role with ease

Job hunting can feel like a part-time job itself. After a long 12-hour shift, the last thing we want to do is sift through endless job listings that don’t match our needs.

Indeed’s nursing job board makes the process easier by exclusively featuring employers with high company ratings and positive Work Wellbeing Scores—a measure that evaluates workplace satisfaction, stress, purpose, and employee happiness. Nurses can also find pay information for every listing, empowering them to make informed decisions.

2. Boost your job search with resume support

Landing that job you’ve been eyeing starts with a great resume. Indeed’s Careers in Care program offers free and professional tools, including:

  • Instant Resume Report: Get free feedback to make your resume more competitive in the job market.
  • Resume Review: Connect with a professional resume editor who provides personalized feedback via video explanation.
  • Resume Writing: For a complete makeover, get paired with professional writers who understand nursing credentials and can create a brand-new resume in a few days.

To celebrate Nurses Month, Indeed is offering a free Resume Review service to nurses during the month of May. Use the code “NURSES2025”. A free Indeed account is required to receive the discount, and there’s a limit of one free service per Indeed account. Available while supplies last, and offer expires June 1, 2025.

3. Check out resources to advance your nursing career

In addition to job search tools and resume support, Careers in Care at Indeed offers many resources for nurses looking to grow professionally, such as:

  • Interview preparation guides: Get practical tips to confidently handle interview questions and present yourself as the ideal candidate.
  • Career advancement information: Access resources to help you take the next step, whether you’re considering specialty changes or looking for tips to set professional goals.
  • Videos for career inspiration: Watch videos featuring nurses sharing their experiences in different specialties and roles.

These resources offer practical insights and inspiration for nurses at any career stage.

4. See how Indeed is advocating for nurses

Nurses make healthcare possible. Day after day, we work tirelessly on the front lines, caring and giving. We deserve to have our well-being protected and our voices heard.

While Careers in Care helps nurses advocate for themselves through better job opportunities and career growth, Indeed is also advocating for nurses at the legislative level. Indeed supports the Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act, a legislation that works to improve wages for nurse educators as a way to address the nursing shortage, especially in underserved areas.

Indeed is also backing the extension of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act through 2029. This Act gives grants to help healthcare organizations provide mental health support for frontline healthcare workers.

5. Find other opportunities outside of nursing

There’s more to healthcare than bedside nursing. On the Careers in Care hub, you’ll find job search guidance for other roles in healthcare. Career coaches are also available to answer your questions and help you set goals for your next steps.

Plus, find out what’s happening in the healthcare job market with the Pulse of Healthcare 2024 Report. This document outlines the top concerns for healthcare job seekers, including burnout, job satisfaction, and more, as well as what employers are looking for.
